Hello! My name is Ricky. I would like to give you a pest control guide which will help you to rid your property of different kinds of pests. At this point, I should say that I am not a professional pest control contractor but I do have a great deal of experience of hiring pest control services and watching the agents work around my home. If you have ever seen a man catch a spider, snake or rat, you will be amazed at the skill they demonstrate. I have learnt a lot of very cool things from pest contractors which I will be sharing with you here.

If you've noticed some insect activity in your garden or in your home, then you need to identify the type of insect you've seen. While you can leave some insects alone, some need to be dealt with.
If you're an insect newbie, you may not be able to immediately identify the creatures you see running around. Sometimes, different kinds of insects look similar and behave in the same ways. For example, termites and ants look alike — in fact, some people call termites white ants.
If your insects look ant-like but you aren't sure whether they are actually ants or termites, you can play spot the difference to identify the problem. How can you tell termites and ants apart?
What Colour Are the Insects?
Typically, ants are dark in colour — their colours range from brown to black. Termites, however, are a lighter colour. They are white, a creamy yellow or even relatively see-through.
So, if your insects are light-coloured, the chances are you have termites rather than ants.
What Body Shape Do the Insects Have?
Although ants and termites look similar, they actually have some differences in body shape. Ants tend to have a segmented body with an obviously narrow waist area; termites aren't segmented in this way and don't have this waist area.
Ants and termites also have differently shaped abdomens. The end of an ant's abdomen typically looks quite sharp and pointed. Termite abdomens are usually more rounded and blunt.
What Do the Insect's Wings Look Like?
If the insects you're seeing are winged, then these wings also give you clues about the insect's type. Both flying ants and termites have four wings; however, these aren't the same on both insects.
Ants' wings aren't all the same size; termites wings all tend to be uniformly sized. Plus, termite wings look bigger on the insect than they do on ants.
If you still aren't sure whether you have ants or termites or if you can't get close enough to take a good look at the insects, then call out a pest control service. They can identify your insects immediately and recommend a suitable treatment to get rid of them.
While termites are more destructive than ants, you may still want to get rid of an ant infestation if that turns out to be the problem. Your pest controller can advise you on the best course of action for either insect.
