Do You Have a Pest in Your House

Hello! My name is Ricky. I would like to give you a pest control guide which will help you to rid your property of different kinds of pests. At this point, I should say that I am not a professional pest control contractor but I do have a great deal of experience of hiring pest control services and watching the agents work around my home. If you have ever seen a man catch a spider, snake or rat, you will be amazed at the skill they demonstrate. I have learnt a lot of very cool things from pest contractors which I will be sharing with you here.

Three Signs It Is Time To Call In Termite Control

by Anita Schmidt

Did you know there are over 300 types of termite living in Australia? The positive news is that not all of them wish to destroy human homes, but the ones that love wood sure do make an expensive mess. As someone who has been living in their home for a while, when was the last time you had a termite inspection done? A search for termite activity occurs as part of a building and pest inspection performed at the time of a house sale, but have you done a more recent one? Here are three signs it is time for you to call in termite controllers for a closer look at your home.

Your Neighbour Mentions Termites At Their Place

If your neighbour mentions they have termites at their place, or they have just treated for termites at their place, then your alert antennae should rise. Just because they have termites does not necessarily mean you do too, but it does mean there is something in your surroundings which has attracted termites to the area. If these favourable conditions are the same at your home and your neighbour's home, then the possibility is there that termites are closer than you want.

You See Flying Termites

A swarmer is the name given to a flying termite. You are likely to see swarmers when it gets humid, in the spring and in the summer. Swarmers are termites who are looking to establish a new colony. They leave their existing one because there is no more food or it is full. While flying, they mate with other termites before they return to earth. The pregnant female termites now want to establish a colony of their own, and that colony is on your property.

Termite Tell-Tale Signs

There are other visible signs that termites have already arrived at your property. These include the following:

  • discarded swarmer wings
  • tiny exit holes in wooden frames
  • sagging wood
  • little tubes of mud (colony home) outside your home

If you see any of these signs or your intuition tells you that termites are trying to take hold at your place, then it is time to contact a termite control service. They know exactly where to look for signs of termites, and if they find evidence, they can then give you a course of action to eradicate the pests. Don't let termites take hold at your property because delaying action now means an expensive repair bill later.
