Do You Have a Pest in Your House

Hello! My name is Ricky. I would like to give you a pest control guide which will help you to rid your property of different kinds of pests. At this point, I should say that I am not a professional pest control contractor but I do have a great deal of experience of hiring pest control services and watching the agents work around my home. If you have ever seen a man catch a spider, snake or rat, you will be amazed at the skill they demonstrate. I have learnt a lot of very cool things from pest contractors which I will be sharing with you here.

Top Tips for Keeping Bed Bugs at Bay

by Anita Schmidt

As small insects that live on bedding and furniture, bed bugs are mostly harmless. But when they do bite you, they cause itching that can feel incredibly uncomfortable. Because of this, you'll want to keep bed bugs at bay so you can live an itch-free life. Here are some ways you can do so.

Know How to Recognise Them

It's always handy to know how to recognise bed bugs. One tell-tale sign is small patches of blood on your sheets or a mattress. Some may also leave a musty smell or rusty spots on bedding. Being aware of these signs is particularly important when you're away from home. Before getting into any hotel or hostel bed, check for signs of bed bugs and ask to move to a different room if you spot them.

Exercise Caution Following Hotel Stays

Did you know that bed bugs love to travel? If you're unfortunate enough to stay in accommodation that features them, the resulting itch is the least of your worries. There's a chance that the bugs will follow you home, and they usually achieve this by attaching themselves to your clothes. If you spot the signs of bed bugs in your hotel room too late or you come away with intense itching and bites, you'll need to boil wash anything you took away with you.

Tackle Problem Areas in Your Home

If a bed bug infestation occurs or you notice signs of them in your home, treatment solutions are available. After applying one, scrub your mattress thoroughly and leave it to dry. You should also repair cracks and holes in furniture and areas such as your skirting board. Try banishing clutter from around your bed too, as it can act as a great alternative residence for bed bugs trying to escape your treatment solutions.

Investigate Second Hand Furniture

If you prefer to take a green approach by buying your furniture second-hand, make sure you examine it for signs of bed bugs. You may spot bug fecal matter or eggshells, and it's particularly important to look for them on bedroom furniture. It's inadvisable to purchase a second-hand mattress unless you're certain it has benefited from a thorough clean. While second-hand furniture stores and charities may clean items thoroughly, individual sellers may not.

If your bug situation is persisting despite your best efforts, consider working with a pest control service. With industrial-grade tools, pest control professionals can banish bed bugs for good and return your home to a comfy and hygienic state.
